Product Care
MO&Co. garments are crafted with longevity in mind. This guide shares expert care tips to help you preserve the quality, shape, and beauty of your MO&Co. pieces for seasons to come.
Cashmere Care Guide
Cashmere is a delicate natural fiber that requires minimal washing — aim for a few times per season only.
Washing:
- Handwash, or use a specialist cashmere detergent on a gentle machine cycle
- Always follow the care label instructions to prevent pilling
Drying:
- Gently squeeze out excess water — never twist or wring
- Lay flat on a towel to dry; reshape while still damp
- Air dry between wears to extend the life of the garment
Storage & Maintenance:
- Fold and store in drawers with mothballs — hanging cashmere will distort its shape
- Use a pilling comb or fabric shaver regularly to maintain softness
Tip: To reverse shrinkage on older cashmere, soak in cold or lukewarm water and gently pull the garment symmetrically while it dries flat.
Denim Care Guide
Denim is a hardwearing fabric that benefits from infrequent washing. Spot clean between washes to extend wear.
Washing:
- Wash inside out on a gentle machine cycle at 30°C or lower to prevent color fading
- Specialist denim detergents can help preserve the fabric's color and texture
Drying:
- Hang to air dry — tumble drying can cause shrinkage
- The natural weight of denim will help pull out creases as it dries
- Avoid ironing, as heat can weaken denim fibers
Repairs:
- For small rips, hand stitch from the inside along the width and length of the tear
- Consider cutting worn jeans into shorts and rolling or stitching the hems to disguise raw edges
Hand stitch a clean rip from the inside, then up and down along the width and length of the tear. Consider cutting old jeans into shorts, rolling and stitching the hems to disguise raw edges.
WOOL CARE GUIDE
Wool's natural protective fiber coating makes it resistant to dirt and dust — it does not need washing after every wear.
Washing:
- Hang to ventilate between wears instead of washing
- When washing is needed, use a specialist wool detergent at 30°C on a low spin setting
- Squeeze out excess water for heavier garments — never wring
Drying:
- Dry flat on a rack with a towel underneath to absorb drips
- Never hang wool to dry — the weight will stretch the garment out of shape
Storage:
- Fold knitwear and store in drawers with mothballs
- Hanging wool will cause it to lose its shape over time
Faux Leather Care Guide
Faux leather requires gentle surface care to maintain its appearance and prevent cracking.
Cleaning:
- Wipe regularly with a damp, soft cloth to remove surface dirt
- For deeper cleaning, apply a mild soap solution, then wipe clean with a water-dampened cloth
- Dry immediately and thoroughly after cleaning
Drying & Storage:
- Air dry at room temperature only — never use direct heat
- Store away from direct sunlight to prevent cracking and discoloration
- Use wide, padded hangers for faux leather jackets to maintain their shape
Linen Care Guide
Linen is a breathable natural fiber that benefits from ventilation between wears.
Washing:
- Ventilate between wears rather than washing frequently
- Machine wash on a low spin at 30°C to retain fiber strength and color
- Use lukewarm water when handwashing
Drying:
- Always air dry linen — avoid tumble drying
- Use steam from a hot shower to reduce creasing naturally
Storage:
- Avoid thin wire hangers or clips, which can leave impressions or distort the garment's shape
- Use padded or wide hangers if hanging is necessary
Silk Care Guide
Silk is a luxurious natural fiber that benefits from ventilation between wears rather than frequent washing.
Washing:
- Handwash with a specialist silk detergent in lukewarm water; rinse without wringing
- If machine washing, check the care label first — use a low spin, mild detergent, and a mesh laundry bag to prevent snagging
Drying:
- Roll the garment in a towel to absorb excess moisture
- Lay flat or hang to air dry
- Steam silk as a gentler alternative to ironing
Restoration:
- To restore shine and softness to older silk garments, soak briefly in a mild white vinegar bath — this helps remove residual soap from the fibers
Acetate Care Guide
Acetate is a delicate fabric that requires careful handling to preserve its structure and drape.
Washing:
- Dry cleaning is strongly recommended, particularly for structured acetate garments
- For hand wash-only items, use cold water with extreme gentleness — do not wring
- Press water out gently and lay flat to dry, or hang on a padded hanger
